Maintenance Assistant
Facility: Oak Creek Rehabilitation Center, Kimberly, ID Status: Non-exempt
Direct Supervisor: Maintenance Director Indirect Supervisor: Administrator
Supervises: None
Scheduling Requirements: Normally Day Shift
Travel Requirements: Minimal to none

Job Summary

The primary purpose of your job position is to maintain the grounds, facility, equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Maintenance Director, to ensure the success of the facility maintenance program.

Job Responsibilities

The Maintenance Assistant assumes daily responsibility in the following areas:

1. Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established maintenance policies and procedures.
2. Follow maintenance schedules as outlined by the Maintenance Director.
3. Perform maintenance tasks as directed.
4. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. (NOTE: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.)
5. Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services.
6. Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.
7. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs.
8. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to the Maintenance Director immediately.
9. Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
10. Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures.
11. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials.
12. Follow established policies governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious wastes.
13. Inform Maintenance Director of supply needs.
14. Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
15. Attend required in-services, or other required meetings.
16. Other tasks, duties or projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications (Assistant)

1. Ability to think and work independently or with direction, and communicate effective with other team members.
2. Current driver’s license and able to be insured by company insurance agency.

Preferred Qualifications (Specialist)

1. One (1) year of maintenance experience in a healthcare or similar setting.
2. Any specialized electrical, plumbing, heating or other specific applicable trade experience.
3. Experience working with OSHA regulations.
4. Ability to take night and weekend call as delegate by the Maintenance Director and Administrator
5. Any degrees, certifications or other qualifications to verify expertise
