The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for Temporary Field Inspectors in the Plant Industries Division throughout the Magic Valley area. This announcement will remain open until these positions have been filled. Apply as soon as possible to ensure you will be considered for these positions.

This position does not have benefits.

This position is approximately 40-hours a week and expected to begin around May 26th and will end between mid-October to the end of November, depending on need.

The field office is located in Twin Falls where successful candidates will report daily for work.
Example of Duties
Field Inspector Job Description:
Field inspectors are responsible for examining crop fields for signs and symptoms of plant pathogens and pests. The use of policy and systematic procedures is of the utmost importance. Collecting, documenting and properly storing samples; following proper sanitation protocol; and ability to read maps are all essential skills. Field inspectors may work independently or in groups of varying size. The ability to keep accurate records is required for such information as inspection locations, mileage, samples, and time spent conducting an inspection. The work day is spent in a variety of locations and requires travel between fields.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: These qualifications are mandatory requirements.

Ability to:
Read road maps
Hike or walk for an extended period of time over long distances on uneven, rough or off-road terrain
Work in various types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)
Possibility of working early mornings, evenings, weekends, or long hours
May have to use your own reliable transportation to go between job sites
Three-quarter length irrigation boots are required and may be reimbursed by the agency at the end of the season
Must be able to communicate to farmers and field representatives
Must be 16 years or older to apply

Desirable Qualifications: This qualification is not required however if you have the related background it may increase your score.
